Helpful Cop Out

Unlike yesterday’s post where I asked you to do all of the work (please make sure you chime in), I’m going to be a giver today.

I’ve been reading a lot of humorous blogs lately. Clearly laughter is just what the doctor ordered. So if you’re recovering from some sort of major medical procedure, pretending to be working, hiding from your children and really need a good laugh, you’ll want to check these women out:

The Blah Blah Blahger is a new discovery for me and she’s brave enough to take on important topics like puking and being a doctor in your head (which I am all the time) and other topics my sister would be so proud of.

I LOVE Beth Woosley and you will too if you take a moment to look at, not the name of her blog (Five Kids is A Lot of Kids), but her URL. Seriously, who says that? She also bravely discusses the pee pond in her bathtub, and raising a teenager. Her posts about her discombobulated home make me a little twitchy (it’s my goal in life now to meet her for real and get her to invite me over and let me have at her closets) but I’m laughing too hard to really notice.

Ok, I’m going here. The Bloggess lacks a filter and she’s free with her profanity.  Sometimes her stories are so crazy you wonder if they’re true. (They are. I read her book). She also tackles the tough topic of her crippling anxiety disorder. While one moment she makes you cry with laughter, the next she’s writing to save lives.

The Redneck Mama is technically one of my tribe, though she doesn’t frequently blog about her son who has a disability, and that’s totally fine. She writes about raising teenagers and ongoing construction on her home and other random funny things.

First, you’re welcome.

Second, not that I need anymore distractions, but you do have some funny blogs for me?

About Heather Bowie

I’m the mother of two wonderful boys and have been married almost 15 years to an amazing Irishman I met in a castle. Our oldest son Liam loves to read and play baseball and has recently excelled in making me lattes! Our younger son Aidan loves to giggle and socialize. Aidan has a significant developmental disability. This blog was birthed out of the desire to tell our story, and in doing so, appreciate the journey.

  1. Thanks for the shout out!!!

    XO!

    • Heather says:

You’re welcome. I really love your blog and I’m finding laughter to be so wonderful right now. And huge congrats on the Deeper Story gig…..another of my favorite blogs.

  2. Beth Woolsey says:

OH MY GOSH, YES! I know you’ve offered before, and I also know my house will be a wreck w/in 15 minutes after you leave, but I NEED YOU. COME.

(This is me saying thank you. It only looks needy on the surface. Underneath my desperate cry for help is “Aw, shucks, Heather!” and deep gratitude for the inclusion here. And a tiny bit of “Oh, geez; I really did confess all those things in public, didn’t I? CRAP.”)

My favorite funny reads these days?

The Bloggess – yes. Absolutely. Thanks for going there.
Brittany. Herself. – brittanyherself.com – needs a warning similar to The Bloggess, but I guffaw aloud nearly every time.
Ann Imig – annsrants.com – Ann is brilliant AND funny.

Looking forward to reading the Blah Blah Blahger. Thanks for the recommendation. I’m always on the lookout for funny new reads.

    • Yeah for more funny recommendations. I laugh out loud at Brittany Herself but wasn’t sure I was ready to come out of the closet as one of her readers.

We will certainly meet sometime. You will crack open the beer and I will clean and we will drink and laugh. Can’t imagine anything better.

  3. Beth Woolsey says:

Oh! And Amber Dusick: Parenting, Illustrated with Crappy Pictures… at crappypictures.com. OF COURSE.
